Earthworks recognizes the severe challenges posed by drought and disease that has devastated a significant portion of olive groves in southern Italy. To address this crisis, Earthworks is committed to enhancing the resilience of the remaining olive oil groves in Puglia. Currently, a majority of all the olive groves in Italy are facing extinction and being ground into wood chips because of dead or dying olive groves. Our biologicals, wood vinegar formulations, and rock dust, will address the diseases, provide cheaper fertilizers, and the biochar will retain nutrients and water and good biology.
Stephen Elson is Director of Business Development and co-owner of our Puglia Hub. Our goals are to work in collaboration with the Region of Puglia’s Department of Agriculture, private olive groves in Puglia, to fund a local Earthworks Hub. Our objective is to demonstrate effective methods to build resilience in Italy’s prominent and historically significant olive crop as well as other crops.
If you are interested in working on our Hub in Pulgia please contact Stephen using this contact form.
