John Gelwicks

CEO

A lifelong environmental activist, John embarked on a mission 15 years ago to harness biochar as a powerful tool for reducing carbon emissions and promoting regenerative agriculture. In collaboration with an Australian inventor and a U.S. team, he co-developed groundbreaking pyrolysis technology under Genesis Industries, which earned a $1 million CIG grant from the USDA in 2013. This technology was subsequently deployed and tested by the U.S. government.

With 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry, including a decade at Sony Pictures Studios, John uniquely blends business savvy with creative innovation. His dual expertise in entertainment and pyrolysis technology culminated in the creation of the Earthworks Hub—an innovative business model aimed at building resilience for both the environment and the communities. His leadership at Earthworks includes raising capital, strategic partnerships, and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, all geared towards making a profitable company with a profound environmental impact.
